Protocols we are taking in response to COVID–19

Following the osteopathic council’s guidelines, we are implementing the following protocols for patients and practitioners.

Social distancing to be adhered to where possible by both the patient and practitioner

For the patient:

  • Prior to your appointment you will be contacted to make sure you are healthy and well. Making sure you are or nobody in your household is showing any signs or symptoms of illness.

  • We will ask you to sign a consent form when you arrive at the clinic to show you have understood the protocols we have put in place and that we have answered any further questions you may have.

  • We will ask where possible that you come alone to your appointment, unless by law a chaperone is required (eg for treatment of a minor).

  • Please arrive on time for your appointment. The waiting room will NOT be in use so if you are early please wait in your car or outside (if weather permits).

  • Patients will be met at the street side front door by the practitioner at their appointment time and escorted to the treatment room.

  • Appointments will still be 30 mins long but will be staggered to allow appropriate cleaning of the treatment room and avoid any patient crossover.

  • If you would like to wear a face mask, please bring one with you.

  • Hand sanitiser will be provided as you enter and exit the treatment room.

  • Payment will be card (contactless if possible), cash or bank transfer.

For the osteopath:

  • The practitioner will wear at all time a fluid repellent face mask and full body fluid repellent apron.

  • The practitioner will wear a uniform washed each day.

  • Were needed an additional visor shield will be worn.

  • All PPE is disposable and will be changed after every patient.

  • Fluid repellent and wipeable pillowcases will be used so they can be cleaned by the osteopath between patients.

  • Make sure the patient has signed and understood the consent form and answer any further questions they may have prior to any treatment / assessment.

  • After each patient the practitioner will change and dispose of their PPE, wipe and clean all surfaces (couch, desk, furniture, door handles etc) and re- apply new sterile PPE before the next patient arrives.

  • After each patient the practitioner will adhere to strict hand washing routine, including washing wrists and forearms up to the elbow.
